Done off of the server, the rotation was still very quick, but the saves were taking five or six seconds (several times, I was informed that ACDSEE had stopped responding, but after the five or six seconds passed, things returned to normal.) Similarly, working with a small spreadsheet (spreadsheet stored on server, work done on client), saves were taking 5 or 6 seconds, with an occasional "Excel has stopped responding" message. Done locally, the rotation and save would take about 1 second. I was using ACDSEE's Photomanager, running on a client, reading and saving the jpgs to the server. Done locally, the rotation and save takes under 1 second. I had to rotate many of them by 90 degrees and save the new version. The other day, I was looking as some pictures I had taken and stored on the server. Where it has become almost unusable is in editing jpgs.

However, when I go to save a small spreadsheet, it's taking about 5 or 6 seconds-the same sort of time that it would take to transfer a half gig file. I'm not complaining about the copy speed. Going the other way, the copy started off about 100-105MB but slowed down to about 60 MB half way through the copy, before finishing off around 80 or so. I just copied a 3 GB file from the server to my desktop (it's a gigabyte network) and the copy started off about 80 MB per second and gradually slowed down. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Ed The only thing I can figure is that my WHS box has a Marvell Yukon NIC, and it was a bit difficult finding the correct driver, but I think I've got it. I just transferred a half gig file from the server to the desktop in about 3 seconds. (Word documents, on the other hand, seem to save just fine-go figure!) The system isn't slow for anything else-files load as though they were local. The save processes are slow from any of the clients. If I change an Excel spreadsheet and save it, again it takes 4 or 5 seconds to complete the save. If I, say, edit a jpg stored on the server and then save the edited image, it takes 4 to 6 seconds for the store to complete. Everything works just fine, EXCEPT: Saves to the server are EXTREMELY slow. I use WHS as a file server for all the PCs in my home (a Win7 desktop, a Win7 laptop, and an XP desktop.) Basically, NO data files are stored locally-all documents for all PCs are stored on the WHS. Navigate to the folder where you saved the command file, and type the filename into the File Name text box. In ACDSee, open Editors > Configure Editors. Paste the following text and save the file: Code: explorer.exe /select, '1'. OK, this problem has been going on for some time. Right click the file and click Edit to open it in Notepad.
